What are brands used for in Grosh?

August 9, 2018

Grosh supports the use of brands when describing an item on your list. Tap the grocery name to reveal extra fields for entering a brand (and package size / unit as well). When several users add the same brand, it becomes globally available and appears in the autocomplete list when typing in the name of a brand.

If you scan a barcode to add an item to the list, and Grosh does not know the barcode, you will be asked to describe the item. This includes the brand, as barcodes are unique to each and every brand of a particular product, like milk. Therefore you must specify the brand when adding items using barcodes.
