Grocery app Grosh for Pebble just got lot faster!

September 22, 2016

We’ve had lots of feedback from our Pebble users – they like the Pebble app, it’s super practical to shop with just your smartwatch. However, several asked for an offline mode, so that the app works even though there’s no network coverage in the store. This is now supported by Grosh for Pebble version 1.3 – read all about it below!

Fewer clicks

Based on user inputs, we’ve changed quite a lot in Grosh for Pebble 1.3. First, you start up directly on the last used list, previous you started by selecting a list – one click to select list saved!
Next, we’ve changed so that adding items is easier, just click “+ Add item” at the top of every list – previously you had to long press to do this. So it’s now dead easy to add something to your shopping list – start Grosh and click select and start dictating!

Faster and more responsive

The app starts much faster, as it “caches” information since the last time you started it. Interaction with the app is now also much faster, the app feels much more responsive. E.g. when marking an item as purchased, list updates instantaneously and without the wait we had previously for the server to confirm your action. Everything is snappy!

Offline mode

So, you can now actually go through the entire list cached on your watch and mark items as purchased without being in contact with the Grosh servers. You can still manually refresh the list by shaking the watch, and this will make any new items added by your partner or spouse appear.
If network coverage is very poor, the app will not be able to sync your changes to the list to the Grosh servers. To let the app sync, start the app when you’re at a location with good network coverage again. Then just shake the watch, and the app re-syncs the list to the servers.

We hope that our user-driven product development brings us nearer to the perfect grocery smartwatch app. If you like our work, give us a like in the Pebble store and share this story to fellow Pebble users 🙂

And if you’re a Grosh for Pebble user, keep your comments coming!

Kind regards
The Grosh Team
