How do I correct a spelling error in the grocery list?

August 18, 2017

All grocery names in the auto complete lists are crowdsourced from Grosh users per language. We do not have resources to check all items submitted, but fortunately it’s easy for you to help. If you spot a spelling mistake, e.g. when adding an item – please add the item to your list and correct the spelling. You’ll be asked if you were correcting a spelling mistake and tap Yes. Then you should not see the spelling mistake anymore. The system learns from your actions, and if others do the same, the misspelled item is removed from the system.

If you’re used to changing an item to another item by changing the name in the grocery details screen, just tap No when asked if you were fixing a spelling mistake.

If you’ve tapped Yes by mistake, just add any item to the list and change the item name to the name you’ve blacklisted. Then tap No when asked if you were fixing a spelling mistake – this will lift the ban of the grocery name from your lists. Or you can navigate to Settings and tap Adjust next to “blacklisted groceries”.

How do I mark a location as a store?

August 18, 2017

Grosh crowdsources the location of stores, meaning it learns their location from where people mark groceries as bought. If you start the app at a location where many previous have marked items as bought, a sort button appears at the top right corner. The buttons leads to a screen that allows you to pick the store which you’re in. After this, Grosh will remember your choice and will show the store name in the header when you’re at that location.

If there are several different stores at the location, and there’s no store with majority of the shopping trips Grosh will not pre-select the store. A info bubble will appear and inform you of this. Please tap the sort button and select the correct store.

Can I only undo last item purchase?

August 18, 2017

In order to uncluttered the display, other previous purchases are not shown on the current (orange) list. They can be seen on the history (green) screen. Left swipe with 2 fingers to see it, and then left swipe the item you wish to move back to the current list.

What is the price field used for?

August 18, 2017

Under item details, you may enter a number in the price field. It’s used to remind the person shopping what the price of the item should be.

If you mark the items as bought at a location that has been identified as a particular store, the system knows what you paid at for the item at that store. Every night, the system traverses purchases made during the day for frequently bought items. The crowdsourced prices are inserted into the global price list available from the menu.
