Yes, wish lists created in Grosh or Fromto apps are available in both apps. Using Grosh for wish lists is handy, as you get access the wish list while you’re out doing your other shopping.

There’s no other wish list app on the market that integrates wish lists with everyday shopping like Grosh does!

Note: Members of a wish list do no need to be Grosh premium users to access and update items on the list. To create new wish lists in Grosh, you need to be a Grosh premium user.

Suppose you’re out shopping with Grosh and pick up one of the wishes you’ve seen on a wish list in Grosh. After you’ve bought the item, just open Grosh, change to the wish list in question, and swipe the item as you would for any other shopping item in Grosh.

This will mark the item as bought in Grosh, which ensures no-one else buys the same item. The recipient has a different view of the shopping list, so he / she can’t see this information 🙂

Grosh uses the list of users the list is shared with as a picklist for the From / To fields. So head over to Menu->Sharing and add the emails of the users that the list involves. After the users are active in the system, their name will appear in the pick lists where you simply select them.

Note: you should not specify the recipient (To) person until the wish has been entered with all details, as this locks the field for the recipient. After being locked, the wish cannot be altered and at the same time, it’s a signal to buyers (From persons) that this wish is now ready and can be assigned to a person.

A person wanting to buy a gift can simply look through the wishes and then open an item and assign himself/herself under From. This will indicate to others that the person has taken responsibility of buying the gift.

When you’re running the web app located at https://login.groshapp.com you should be shown our introduction guide to Grosh. You should be able to press Skip button top right and get to the login screen where you can enter your credentials and tap Login.

If this does not work, try the following

• We’ve seen that an update to Chrome on laptops with touch screen disables using the ability to use the trackpad as pointer. Until we’ve got a better solution, you need to press the screen to activate the skip / login buttons.
• If you get to the login screen, but the webapp  reports it cannot login even though I typed in credentials carefully. If there’s no logo shown over he login fields, it could mean you’ve got an ad blocker active. Disable it and try again. If you’ve got an ad-blocker, Grosh will try to detect this and warn you. Ad blockers tend to interfere with the web app functionality.
• You might be running in private mode. That sets some limitations that breaks the webapp – try normal mode.

Grosh is a shopping app that crowdsources lots of things, including the global dictionary of grocery names. As many users add the same item, it gets promoted to the global list of dictionaries. Unfortunately, this also means new items with the same meaning as existing items propagate into the global list. This makes it hard for Grosh to understand purchase patterns and provide good suggestions to what you need to shop.

To avoid this, we’re cleaning out the grocery dictionaries so everything has the form “grocery name” + “adjective” e.g. milk skimmed. But as we’re using full search in the app, you can just start typing “skimmed m” and see a match for “milk skimmed” and tap that. To keep the system tidy, we’ve also introduced a check for synonyms on all new items. This means you can no longer add a new product if a synonym product exists.

Besides making the list of items shorter when adding new items, the clean up has other benefits such as enabling us to provide insights into the most purchased items etc.

Grosh also does some processing of qualities at the front of the grocery name. You’re supposed to enter the amount of a grocery in front, e.g. 1 or 2 of something.

Grosh also does some processing of variant information inside the grocery name. If you enter “2kg potatoes” or “potatoes 2kg”, “potatoes” is added to the list along with variant information 2kg shown in brackets. Other variant information includes the brand name and organic indicator, so that you may add “potatoes eco” to get potatoes added with the “eco” flag set in brackets.

Finally, Grosh also does some processing at the end of the grocery name, as it looks for store name and price. If it finds a store name, that’s removed from the item name and added as a tag to the item instead. The same applies to a all-numbers word at the end of the grocery name. Example: “potatoes lidl 3”, means the potatoes cost 3 which is added as a price together with lidl as a store tag.

Note: You can always use the note field for special comments on a grocery item – the note field is all yours and is always unaltered. You may fill in the notes field when entering the grocery name by adding a comma – everything after the comma is treaded as a comment.
