Grosh has a questionnaire built in to collect feedback that appears now and then to help us improve the product and understand our user base. We’ve been analyzing what our core users’ like most about the app and decided to double down on that – to improve those areas even more. Learn more about what’s improved in Grosh 5.1 below.
Sharing list instantly
Until now, you could only share a list by sending an invite code by sms or email. This was a bit cumbersome. So now, if you have multiple lists, Grosh supports sharing a list instantly to users you already have shared lists with (without sending code and typing it in).
Accepting shared list
Until now, the initial sharing of a list to a user required the invited user to type in the invite code either at the signup page or by entering it when adding a new list. We’ve now made this simpler, so that the message you send now also contains a link to our webapp that contains the invite code. In the webapp, the right page is shown and the invite code will be prefilled to make it simpler to accept the shared list.
Sharing user profile
Similarly, it is now simpler to view and start following a shared user profile. Someone can invite you to follow them via a link e.g. posted on social media or shared via SMS or email. Using the link, you can jump to the Grosh webapp and if logged in, you tap “Follow” to start following – or login first / create an account and then do so.
Why is this clever? Because Grosh makes it easy to follow friends and family to get inspiration for your daily cooking. For example, you can see the recipes they add or bookmark, as well as the people they start to follow to get their inspiration. This way their inspiration becomes your inspiration too 🙂
Sharing recipes
The same goes for recipes that you want to share, or that someone shares with you. If you added or bookmarked a great recipe, you can share the recipe via a link that you can post on social media, or share via SMS or email. Using the link, others can preview the recipe and also jump to the Grosh webapp to see all details. If logged in, others can just tap “Bookmark” to keep the recipe in their bookmarks – or login / create an account and do so.
Why is this clever? Because Grosh makes it easy to share recipes with friends and family .e.g after you’ve had them over for dinner and they are curious about the course you served.
Refining the user interface changes
Grosh 5 gave the app a proper user interface overhaul. We’ve since received feedback on some areas and we’re now happy to introduce various refinements suggested by our users:
- Grosh 5 keeps bought items visible on the screen until you’ve bought all items within a section (or left swiped to hide them). This is great to remember what you’ve bought in the section, but less great if you just want to de-clutter the list as fast as possible. Now you can unselect “Show bought items in section” under Settings to de-clutter the list faster.
- More compact shopping list: With the facelift in Grosh v5, fewer grocery lines were visible in the app compared to before. We have optimized the use of screen real estate and now show more lines again.
Various minor features and fixes
- Membership screen reworked to allow editing/deleting without using settings.
- More information / help screens e.g. explaining sorting and functional settings
- Settings add/edit social links not working
- Sync problems not being reported to user: You might have lost access to a list, but when syncing the denied access is never reported and it seems like you are connected to the list, but your changes never go through – and you never see changes performed by other users to the list.
- Suggestion tab: Tap shopping cart now has more clear visual indication of the select/unselected items
- Added some more help texts on various screens
- Webapp: Allow add grocery from dropdown list using cursor/enter keys
- Webapp: recipe viewer does not show ingredients
- Webapp: History search field too small
- Android: App uses updated API version / libraries for increased compatibility and stability
- Android: Bottom sheet lists not scrollable
- Location warning shown when resuming app
- Setting unit cleared brand on grocery subscreen
- Improved styling on bottom sheet lists
- Hidden categories shown
- Add meal plan calendar hidden by keyboard
- Add new store possible from Trip page
- Search on wish and collector list not working for old items
- Missing option to keep (or not) history in section after buying grocery
- Recipes filtering cannot use categories (missing in select tag screen)
- Report missing list access to user / being offline
- Vote list categories not available until restart
- Missing pull to refresh on sharing screen
- Premium user menu not showing user name left of user image
Kind regards
